The gaming industry has improved a lot throughout the years and along with this came the rise of esports after competitive gaming became popular within the community. There are a lot of games that are featured in the major esports scene and one of them is League of Legends.
LoL by Riot Games is a multiplayer online battle arena game (MOBA) launched in 2009. Today, this is known as one of the most popular esports games in the world as it also hosts the League of Legends World Championship, one of the biggest tournaments in the industry.
One of the features players love most about League of Legends is how it allows players to customize their characters. This is made possible by the game skins they can earn. With these, players can enjoy having unique variations of looks, effects, animations, and more.
One of the factors that players love most about LoL is their wide selection of skins that are interesting to have. Some of these are ward skins and here is a closer understanding of them.
What are ward skins?
Ward skins can alter the appearance of all Stealth Wards, Totem Wards, Control Wards, Farsight Wards, and Zombie Wards that were placed by the summoner. Originally, ward skins were released as a 7-day rental programme that players can stack up to 52 times. This was possible if all active rentals are running. Some of the original ward skins were also made available for Influence Point.
Due to the popularity of the rental programme, Riot Games officially decided to launch them as permanent cosmetics a year after their initial release. Today, ward skins remain one of the most sought after items in the game.
Available ward skins
Here is a closer look at some of the available ward skins that can be found on the game. Each of these skins cost 640 Riot Points (RP). There are several categories players can find. These are some of them.

Rare ward skins
There are a lot of ward skins on League of Legends but not everything has an adequate supply to cater to all players. Many of them are rare. By having some of these skins, players can be prouder since not all players have the chance to have what they have on their heroes. Here are some of them.
- Riot Ward – This is the ward skin equivalent of the PAX Twisted Fate which is the rarest LoL skin of all time. This is only available by attending the Pax East 2014. To have this, players would have to get a special code from an official Riot event.
- Victorious Ward 2014 – This ward skin will always be rare because there were only a few LoL players way back in 2014.
- Victorious Ward 2015 – To earn this, players would have to earn points by winning ranked gamed in a group of 5 during the 2015 season.
- Poro Ward – This cute ward skin was only sold in the shop between December 16, 2014, to January 30, 2015.
- Tomb Angel Ward – This Harrowing ward skin was only sold from October 26, 2012, to November 13 of the same year. There were several ward skins that were made available at that time and this was described as the least appealing amongst all, the reason why it’s so rare.
- Season 3 Championship Ward – This is an extremely limited ward skin that is considered as one of the rarest in the game. This was released on December 13, 2013, until the end of the pre-season.
- Season 4 Championship Ward – This ward skin was only made available for 18 days.
- 2015 All-Star Team Ice Ward – This was from the All-Star 2015 event where teams of Ice and Fire played against each other.
- Nightbringer Ward – This used to be only available for players who purchased the Way of Order Pass or the Way of Chaos Pass in two weeks.
- Gingerbread Ward – This was previously made available from December 15, 2012, until the end of the month. A year after, it was released on December 10, 2013.
These are just some pieces of information that players would have to learn more about League of Legends ward skins. By learning more about these and how they can be obtained, players can have their Champions looking better in no time!
